Leveraging The Crowd

IMG_2181.jpg

The group class environment or “Community” of our gym is what sets us and other gyms like us apart from the standard gym…

You will hear this word “Community” thrown around by a lot of CrossFit gyms or other chain style gyms but what does it actually mean?

Community: A group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.

Here are 3 things of the most positive things I have seen form from within our community:

1. Making friends for life. It’s often hard when you form a new fitness habit to explain it to your friends and family. They just don’t get it and can’t relate because they aren’t doing it with you. Those who go through the same things you do and share the same experiences with you will form great bonds. I saw this in the military and I see it daily within the 4 walls of our gym!

2. Business relationships and job opportunities. Numerous jobs, business partnerships and employment opportunities have been started in the gym. I put this down to our clients trusting those they train with more so than someone they meet off the street. They do this because they know the person they train with is willing to do something hard (our workouts) and is a health conscious person who shares the same values as them and who wouldn’t trust that?

3. Accountability. Sure we as coaches will hold you accountable and call and message you when you don’t come in but so will your classmates. Your success is tied to their success because they want someone in the class to train with. Not only for a little friendly competition but because doing anything hard is always made easier when you can glance across the room and smile at the others in the room going through this with you!

If you don’t currently train with others in a group or community I highly suggest you rethink what you’re doing and join one. Because the tough times are made easier when you can leverage the crowd!
