When Talk Turns Into Action

I’m currently reading a book called “Traction” by Gino Wickman. It’s a book about building systems, processes and management for small businesses.

In the chapter I’m reading he tells a story of a dog sitting on a nail. A gentleman walks up to a farmhouse and on the porch sits and old man in his rocking chair and his dog. The dog is moaning and whining so the gentleman asks the old man why this is? “It’s because he is sitting on a nail” replies the old man. The gentleman then asks “Why doesn’t he move?” To which the old man replies “Because it’s not hurting enough for him to move”

Gino uses this story to reinforce the need of systems for business owners. In my opinion this is also true in the fitness space. I see people complain they are not happy with their lack of training, their current state of fitness or their appearance yet they continue to do nothing about it…

If this is you, or someone you know, share this story and tell them to get off the damn nail!
