Don't Try To Game The Game... Get What You Came For

On Saturday we started The Whole Life Challenge. A game aimed at improving lifestyle factors including sleep, nutrition, hydration and daily exercise.

One thing I have observed in the early stages is whenever rules are put in place people will always try to game it or find ways to work around them. It’s just human nature to try and push the envelope…   

Usually it is to justify a minor slip up or because of a moment of weakness and let yourself off the hook.  

Now I am not immune to this and I will be the first to admit I thought about not counting the extra beer I had on Saturday as a point because I wasn’t aware and didn’t read the rules properly. But this would defeat the purpose of the rules I signed up for…  

To others it might show up in the form of something like “oh I didn’t know it had sugar in it” or “I will start the challenge tomorrow because I have a mates wedding on this weekend”.  

While I fully agree with you on the difficulty of this game at times, if we let ourselves slide during the game what chances do we have at maintaining these habits when it’s all over.

So rather than letting yourself slide every now and then, read the rules and stick to them like your life depends on it because then and only then will you get what you came for!
