Competition Is a Tool, Use It Wisely
Business, sport and human evolution have all been pushed forward by the side effects of competition…
There are countless hours of highlight reel footage to prove this as well as advances in productivity and technology in recent years. Hell humans love competition so much we even made it a race to the moon…
The true value in competition is because it demands we show up with our best effort. There is no greater accountability tool in my opinion.
To show up give your all and see where you land.
Competition is a great part of our training program because it is a small part. If spaced out correctly and smartly there is enough time between test/competitions to see marked improvements for a long time.
On the flip side if every workout with mates or weekend training session is seen as another opportunity to compete then improvements will be much smaller and also come less frequently.
If you find yourself getting sucked in to competing every day my advice is to take your foot off the pedal for a second.
Pick some key metrics or dates to strive for and push towards that rather than making every day about competing.
Competition is a tool and needs to be used to your advantage…
