Knowing Where To Look...
Every day in the gym you’re testing yourself in one way or another.
Be it a 1RM, a new skill or the mental toughness to keep going in a difficult workout. There is always something to test.
This is what I love about the training we do. Every time you train you have an opportunity to learn something about yourself if you know where to look…
Lifting a heavy weight is a just one example of a great opportunity for this. Let’s use a Back Squat as an example…
When you squat did your weight shift in your feet? Did your perform the squat the same as you would if there was no weight on the bar? At what point did it get hard? The top or the bottom of the squat? Did your stance or setup change because there was more weight on the bar?
These are all questions which will bring to light any areas of weakness in your Back Squat or any movement you choose for that matter. Once you know where to put in extra work or attention you can make improvements which will in turn improve the performance of your squat.
So now you know where to look, it’s time to make some improvements…
