How To Stick To Your New Years Resolutions...
One of the most common things that happens this time of year is you will start setting or thinking about your New Year's resolutions/goals.
I am a massive believer in these types of motivational and goal setting endeavours but too often I see others fail by the start of February.
In my opinion it isn’t because you don’t want your goal anymore, it’s because you don’t plan for things getting tough or unplanned events/roadblocks derailing you and before you know it you are back to where you started.
So with this in mind I want to offer you my number one tip for sticking to the goals or resolutions you are about to set!
Go ahead and think of a resolution or goal for the New Year. Something you really want and go ahead and write it down…
Once you have penned your resolution or goal I want you to write down every single foreseeable excuse you will have not to do that thing…
If you want some examples click here for a list of 35 of them…
So now you have this list I want you to write down the reasons you can still work towards your goal even when this roadblock shows up. Using my template sentence below…
For example:
“I’m the kind of person who even after a late night still makes it to the gym in the morning”
“I’m the kind of person who even if it’s raining outside will still go for today's 5k run”
You see when you associate yourself as the kind of person who sticks to your goals it is a powerful psychological motivator. It becomes the go to story you tell yourself and how you view yourself is important.
There will be days you don’t “feel” like doing the run or the workout but if you are the type of person who goes for the run anyway these feelings will never get the better of you!
