Why Do You Train?

While chatting to a client earlier this week he mentioned how often he is asked what he is training for?

Of course this is to be expected when you’re a CrossFitter. Having a training program which is consistently delivering results and you enjoy.

So when he told me his typical answer to that question I felt extremely proud!

“Life” he said…

It just comes with the territory these days.

If you’re seen to be eating well and training more than the one token class a week your friends do you have to be training for something.

If you went and asked a regular gym goer “What are you training for?” typical responses would range from:

Shredding for the wedding, my first triathlon or an ironman/marathon.

Don’t get me wrong I do love having things to train for but they shouldn’t be the only reason to train.

They can be great for providing context at certain times of the year.

What happens though when you finish the race or reach the goal?

What if there was a bigger reason…

We (humans) are not meant to sit in an office all day. We’re meant to be active. We’re meant to be fit, strong and athletic all of the time!

The sooner we remember this the sooner we can just train for life!
