Why I Love Retreats...

Yesterday we wrapped up our 6th retreat. Held on the South Coast in Gerroa we spent the weekend eating amazing food, completed 4 training sessions and threw in a little bit of personal development.

These weekends I feel have a huge impact on the lives of those who attend for 3 main reasons:

  1. It’s time away to work and focus on themselves. We find most people when they go away for a holiday generally don’t take the opportunity to take a look back at what trajectory their lives are heading. Stuck in the mundane day to day grind they don’t take the opportunity to assess what they‘re doing and see whether it matches their values or goals.

  2. Holidays are seen as a time to eat worse than normal, drink more and sleep less so when they return they generally feel worse than when they left. We carve out time to eat amazing food, create better nighttime routines, drink less and train more. All of which combined has everyone feeling better than when they left. (Which is what most people go away for but miss the mark on in my opinion)

  3. Full immersion. Spending a full weekend or 6-7 nights away is a great pattern interrupt. We all whether we will admit it or not are massive creatures of habit and over time falling into some unhealthy habits. Sometimes this happens over a long period of time so it’s hard to notice the bad habits creep in. Spending time away forming some newer healthy habits sparks motivation in people unlike I have ever seen before. On the back end of retreats our attendees have some life changing takeaways and I always look forward to seeing where this motivation leads them…
