Realising What You're Capable Of...
I’m always amazed by the achievements of people at the edges of sport. Those who make up the highlight reels we aspire to! Over the weekend we saw the first ever person to run a marathon in under 2 hours. Well 1:59.40 to be exact by Eliud Kipchoge.
This meant running 100m in 17 seconds and repeating that 420 times!! Not that saying the total time under 2 hours isn’t something people can appreciate but I feel 100m is a distance most people could run and would struggle to do 4 of these back to back let alone 420 of them.
Now the point of me writing this today is not to share this amazing result but to talk about the mindset of the people performing these amazing/world record feats…
The difference between Eliud and the average person is that he hasn’t set limits on himself OR let the beliefs/expectations of others limit what he thinks he is capable of doing.
Understand this… You are capable of much more than you give yourself credit for. The thing that holds most people back from realising this is the expectations or limits society or those around place on them.
The minute you realise this and stop listening to the limits and boundaries set by others, the sooner you will accomplish what you’re truly capable of!
