Fitness Is For Life

I have never been a fan of the fitness industry as a whole. In fact it makes me a little sick to watch the billions of dollars flushed down the toilet each year on fads, challenges and new bright shiny objects.

Hollow promises made by the giants which leave a taste of distrust in people's mouths when they fail to deliver the promised results…

In my opinion we as a society are so caught up in the ease of doing everything so quickly.

We are beginning to forget the fact that fitness is not a quick fix. You won’t suddenly wake up one day after a 6 week challenge and feel strong enough or fit enough to throw in the towel.

It is your responsibility to maintain that level and improve upon it.

The short, fast and quick mentality is the main reason people fall for the marketing messages… The challenges, kick starts and programs.

In the end most people are left disappointed after falling victim to another non sustainable training program. They reach the end drop off then when the next one rolls around and then feel the need to sign up again…

Fitness shouldn’t be treated like a bank account where you go and make a deposit (6 week challenge) and it justifies the next 6 weeks of alcohol, sugar and poor food choices.

Now, I am not naive enough think this mindset will change in my lifetime but I can at least start the conversation.

The conversation which I hope will lead to people finding a program or discipline they can commit to for a long period of time or even a lifetime.

Something which has the ability to get harder as you get better, which will continue to challenge you over time and allow you to transcend your current capabilities.
