A Different Approach

These days with all the emphasis on fast, quick and easy I see people striving for results as fast as physically possible. They want things yesterday…

I think most of us (myself included) feel we need to work as hard as possible, cut out any time for hobbies and leisure activities to get the result we want or “need”. Everyone wants an overnight success story. (Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but in my opinion there is no such thing)

I have often struggled with this over the years and fully empathise with those who do because I know the feeling that comes with it. The feeling that tells you what you’re doing is never enough and you should be doing it more and doing it faster.

Don’t get me wrong, sure when you’re just starting out in anything you’re going to have to put your head down, bum up and get to work. This goes without saying. A time will come though when you stop making progress. It’s at this time balance becomes important to maintain the progress.

If I could go back and tell my 20 something self one thing it would be to take a step back, stop burning the candle at both ends and start thinking instead about tactics for longevity…
