Your Preference Doesn't Matter...
I find people are particularly picky with the things they don’t want to do in the gym…
Common statements I hear are “I don’t need to go that heavy” or “I don’t really like using the barbell”
While I agree with both of these statements because there is times when I don’t want to either. I challenge you to forget about your preferences for a second and think about this…
You don’t sign up at our gym to specifically do pull ups but you do sign up to lose a couple of kilos or get more toned. We do pull ups in the gym anyway because they are a great tool for you to lose weight.
Going to a gym or hiring a PT isn’t the reason you go to a gym. It is for the weight loss, improved performance or lifestyle benefits associated with training with them.
So given the reason for training isn’t to actually do the training itself but for the results obtained shouldn’t you be a little more open to the best practices for obtaining said results?
While I do empathise with your lack of desire for using a barbell or lifting heavy weights these tools are incredibly important in obtaining the results you desire.
Your training shouldn’t always be based around preference instead best practices if you want the results you desire…
